A Zoom-Zoom SUV

     2007 Mazda CX-9 Crossover

It was just early this year that Mazda came up with CX-7 and already they have another one served up – the all new Mazda CX-9, a seven-seater mid-size SUV, which they claim to have made the Zoom-Zoom way.

This all-new Mazda CX-9 shreds off the boxy-type family vehicle for a sleek and fun design such as what the CX-7 looks like. But their difference lies in their capacity for seating people and the arrangement of the seats in the car. The CX-9 gives us a much more space for passengers with its three-row seating – putting together 7 passengers in one fun ride.

Its interior could prove that the engineers responsible for making this mid-size SUV could still put in the luggages that the seven passengers brought with them to the trip. It doesn’t sacrifice space as even though 7 people could be seated, they are seated comfortably and relaxed.

This all-new crossover mid-size SUV received praises for its affordability and its interior design. Edmunds.com awarded it Editor’s Most Wanted SUV Under $35,000.

Mazda Picks Up Pace

Mazdaspeed Motorsports development and Pace American Trailers announced their two-year partnership with Pace as the official trailer of Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development. This partnership will allow members of the Mazdaspeed racing contingency program, which is already one of the most lucrative in this sport, to have discounts when they purchase Pace trailers. Mazdaspeed has also launched a trailer that will be used for parts distribution and meetings during the amateur and professional race events around Canada and U.S.

“Racers need trailers, and Mazda racers want trailers that perform well, are well-built, easy to tow and – above all else – are a great value. Pace trailers meet those criteria, have a great reputation for performance and will be a great addition to the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development family,” said John Doonan, Mazdaspeed Business Development Manager. “ Because Pace and its product range appeal to the same grassroots racing competitors that MAZDASPEED supports, this partnership made perfect sense for both companies,” Doonan added.

Mazdaspeed and Pace is similar in terms of their enthusiasm in motorsports and great cars. “Pace American is proud to become a partner of MAZDASPEED and assist in the continued development of their motorsport programs. This partnership brings together two companies with rich racing histories, companies who use racing not just as a marketing exercise, but actually to test and develop better products,” said Peter Calhoun, marketing manager of Pace American Trailer.

Unlike its predecessor, the new Mazda two has radically improved and this small car revolution becomes one of the best looking superminis of 2007. It has a next-generation platform from Ford Fiesta, making it truly one pf the top mini cars today.

It really has an attractive styling that proves that Mazda gave its best on the design. This Mazda 2 hatchback was taken into a drive by Auto Express and they weren’t disappointed with the performance it gave. It has an RX-8-style bulging wheelarches and the machines lines have been designed to create a car impression that it is agile.

Its engine is Mazda’s high-tech 1.5L four-cylinder, ha 102bhp, and delivers 47.9mpg economy because of its sequential valve timing and variable induction system. It also gives out a brisk performance because it also boasts of having a slick-shifting gearbox operated over a dash-mounted stick.

To get over the one it replaced, Mazda made its Mazda 2 lighter and this is actually the first time Mazda ever did that. It became lighter because its overall length was reduced and also due to the lower roof line. This weight savings were made to make the hatchback more efficient, leaner, for a better drive.

The official launch of the Mazda 2 hatchback is on September in UK and it will be available in a choice of three engines – 74bhp and 85bhp 1.3L units and a 1.5L motor that was tested by Auto Express. Come January 2008 and Mazda will add the third choice which is a 1.4L diesel engine.

Mazda Awarded First Place for the Third Time

The Quality Report for 2007 which is being published Germany’s largest car magazine, the Auto Bild, has awarded Mazda the First Place. This would make Mazda’s third award in three straight years from the magazine.

Auto Bild’s Quality Report includes several criteria which are the endurance tests, recalls, Germany’s Technische Uberwachung Verein (TUV) report, car owner surveys(which would be Auto Bild subscribers), customer complaints at Auto Bild, warranty types , and quality of dealership based on secret service tests. The result of this is a comprehensive picture quality for Europe’s largest market according to brand.

Like the two previous Quality Reports of Auto Bild, Mazda’s quality reigned over all the criteria set upon by the magazine. The Quality Report shows that Mazda’s strong point were reflected under its long term quality based on the TUV report of roadworthiness inspections of cars that are already two-three years old, the Endurance test made by Auto Bild where the new Mazda 5 is currently halfway through the test but still didn’t show signs of breakdown.

On the category of low repair frequency and high body build quality, Mazda worthily scored higher among others. This enabled Mazda to improve more on the 2006’s excellent result. And once again, Mazda got a very positive feedback on customer satisfaction and warranty performance for this year 2007, which accordingly is the company’s known strength.

Dan Morris, Mazda’s Senior Managing Executive Officer in charge of marketing, sales and customer service said, “We’re especially honored that in 2007 Mazda was chosen the winner of Auto Bild’s Quality Report for the third time.“This prestigious award is a recognition of the quality of the design and manufacturing built into every Mazda vehicle. And it gives us more confidence as we move forward with our plans to bring even greater levels of quality to all aspects of the Mazda Zoom-Zoom car owning experience for our customers worldwide.”

Mazdaspeed 3 Nicknamed “Wild Child”

Now, why would Mazda name their newly-designed Mazdaspeed model for their Mazda 3 line "Wild Child?" Of course, it would only mean that this beauty has something very unique to offer its driver, and its all contained under its hood.

Mazda boasts of its uniquely-engineered engine performance that has 263 horsepower, 0-60miles in 5.8 seconds, razor sharp handling, sport tuned suspension, making the Mazdaspeed 3 a sport compact vehicle like no other. With its sport-tuned suspension, handling and controlling the 263 amount of horsepower it has during twists and turns will now be a piece of cake.

So why Wild Child again? This set of wheels are lightweight but contains a big engine capable of all the specification mentioned above, and a whole bunch more. It also has a six-speed manual transmission for the speed loving driver, and a 2.3L direct-injected turbo engine coupled with that.

The exterior accessories that accentuates its sporty frame and enhances its road functionality are 18-inch wheels, streamlined roof spoiler, a boisterous tailpipe, floating fog lamps, an muscular-angled frame. This is indeed one mouth-watering Mazda performance branding, that anyone would want to experience!

Mazdaspeed for Performance Branding

Performance branding is becoming one trendy fad in the automotive industry that automakers are incorporating in the production of their cars. Performance Branding is just the releasing of sports oriented versions and special editions of some or all of their models.

We’ve seen Mercedes Benz, Cadillac, Volkswagen, and BMW release special editions of some of their car models to keep up with the latest fad and show car enthusiasts what they’ve got and what they have to offer. Only Japanese automakers seem to be silent amongst the spread of this trend, seemingly not keeping up with the latest.

But this isn’t the case, as one Japanese automaker emerged with a different concept on performance branding. Mazda broke the Japanese silence and they came up with their own performance branding, without car enthusiasts having to buy new models just to experience the effect of the industry’s spreading trend. While other automakers made a fuss on building special editions of some of their latest models, Mazda broke the tradition and just offered their patriots individual performance kits that they could install in their old Mazda models to enjoy performance enhancements. Performance branding of other car companies is presented in a whole different package and Mazda offered those who couldn’t afford to buy a new model a taste of upgraded performance.

Thus, Mazdaspeed upgrades were born, concept which has something to do with performance enhancement. This boosts the appeal of a range of Mazda vehicles without having to spend a lot of cash on the whole package.

Among the industry where a lot of things could be similar, Mazda proved that they are one unique company, not having to follow the norms of the industry but still giving just as much performance like others.

Spiano, Mazda’s Newly Released Kei Car

Many car enthusiasts may not be a real fan of Japanese Kei cars, with the lot of luxurious, high-performance, and adventurous cars available in the market today. Nonetheless, Mazda decided to have Suzuki rebadge their tiniest model, which is the Spiano.

Kei cars weren’t really much of a favorite because of its little stature and the insides were not much of an interior to see. But Mazda saw the potential of this micro-car in exploiting local tax and insurance relaxations that they were happy to market these seemingly-toy cars again. Vintage car enthusiasts will be happy with this news as this is one vintage car with a fresher atmosphere from the upgrades that Mazda had installed in them. From the exterior chromed front grills up to the comfortable interior cabin, Mazda wanted it to have a bit of modernization but not sacrificing its vintage background.

Vintage enthusiasts should hurry if they would want to buy one of these as they are only produced in quantities of 300 units a month. That is the very reason they’ve contracted with Suzuki to have the Spiano revamped. Suzuki was to be the one to reconstruct this Kei car as they are categorized under low-volume niche products, and it’s a standard practice of Japan automakers to have other companies revamp cars under the said category.

Mazda’s Spiano starts sale this June and will be available at Mazda Autozam, Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealerships throughout Japan.
